For Your Home
We believe in home, and we believe the furniture that fills your home should tell a story. Your furniture should mean something.
About Porter Furniture
Call us old fashioned...but we believe the best things are still built by hand.
Several years ago, I was given a barn by a family friend that was on it's last leg. It was set to be destroyed; instead, I took the barn apart by hand, saving every piece of useable lumber that I could, and Porter Furniture was born.
Every time we take a barn apart, we are amazed at the craftsmanship and care that went into these structures. We take great care to put the same detail into every piece of furniture that we create, giving new life to this lumber.
We love our work, and we would love to create a one of a kind piece of furniture...just for you.
Our reclaimed lumber comes straight from the source; century old barns and structures that are taken apart and repurposed with great care.
The lumber has character that is impossible to recreate; old square nail holes, worm holes, knots and other characteristics that make it unmistakably original.
A truly unique piece of furniture that tells a story, and gives you the perfect setting to create your own stories.
Porter furniture created a custom table for our family, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the entire experience. I reached out to Brett with a few inspiration photos and he quickly caught my vision and ran with it. Our new table is stunning, and I have no doubt that it will stand up to our family for decades to come. Photo is of our table before it was stained - it only got better! Highly recommend Brett for any of your custom furniture needs.

Where does your reclaimed lumber come from? Our reclaimed lumber comes straight from the source: century old barns right here in the Midwest. We take great care disassembling these barns by hand, saving every piece of lumber that we can to use in our furniture. The lumber then comes to the shop, gets de-nailed, planed, sanded and finished by hand.
Do you exclusively use reclaimed lumber? No. While we are experts at transforming reclaimed lumber into functional furniture, we also work with new lumber. Walnut, White Oak and Ash are some of our favorite species to work with.
How long does it take to get my furniture? It typically takes 6-8 weeks to get your furniture after your order is placed. If you need it sooner than that, ask about our rush ordering for a small fee.
How do I order my furniture?Ordering furniture from us is easy. You can buy online, right here on our site. Just add one or several pieces to your cart and check out. We accept all major credit cards. You can also set an appointment with us and pay for your piece in person with cash, check or credit. We book most orders with a $200 deposit per piece, and the rest is due when you pick up your piece, or we deliver it.
Can the furniture I see here be customized?Absolutely. Everything we make is built from scratch right here in our shop. Use the contact form or give us a call to discuss the piece that will be perfect for you.
Do you deliver your furniture?Yes. We are happy to offer delivery in the Kansas City area for $100, for your entire order. We deliver to all of Missouri and Eastern Kansas for an additional fee.
What type of lumber do you use?Our stock of reclaimed lumber changes often. Typically we have Southern Pine and Red Oak reclaimed lumber in stock and most of our pieces are made of this.
Can I come see your shop and showroom? Please do. We love having visitors. Booking an appointment is easy, just click the Visit Us link and it will walk you through the steps.
